You can get started with making microtonal music in Spire in just a minute. However, you will need some good files containing scales. Otherwise, there won’t be any microtonal music going on. So let’s get started!
Step 1. Download tuning files.
You can get those files from anywhere. But I advise you to try out Sevish’s tuning pack. They will work for all of your microtunable synths, and they are a good selection of scales to start out with. Download them here: https://sevish.com/music-resources/#tuning-files.
Find Download Sevish Tuning Pack — Save the files into any folder and unpack the files.
Step 2. Locate the Microtuning button in Spire and click it.
Step 3. Click “Import .scl“, locate the folder you downloaded. Choose Sevish Tuning Pack –> Any Folder–> scl –> Any file.
Step 4. When you have imported a scale or many scales. Click Select scale and choose any of the tuning files you just imported.
Step 5. Done! Enjoy creating microtonal music.
+In the microtuning menu, you can change the A4 frequency. It can be handy if you want to try making music in for example 432Hz.
